Day 18

I’m up early again. We go to eat on the beach. We head out and catch the morning. It’s just across the street and down a little resort path. We’re up early with the locals they greet us with good mornings. We eat in dining room chairs with our feet in the sand.
morning walk to breakfast

After breakfast we stroll to some rocks and climb around. We’re kids again and the sight of crabs and little creatures excites us. We land at the thanh kieu resort they have nice cabanas and a bar that serves fruit drinks. I get a banana milkshake Dawn a fruit concoction of equal goodness and we post up in the shade of a cabana.
breakfast
The midday heat is escaped napping under the cabana and sipping fruit drinks. How can I do this more often I wonder.
rocks at the end of the beach Phu Quoc
We spend the day at lying around ordering whatever our hearts desire. The drinks are so good I can’t stop. My drink of choice banana milk and ice. The bananas are like magic. They are half the size and double the sweetness. Can someone grow these bananas and ship them to me.
Hermit crab with a cool shell
We get in and out of the water. Cooling off napping getting warm and jumping back in. The water is so stunning. I’ve forgone shooting with my big camera its iPhone only now. It’s the best travel camera I’ve ever owned.
fancy foot washer
We watch french and Vietnamese children play in the sand. We see a giant jellyfish and soon after get some jellyfish stings. Maybe it’s our imagination. Couples stroll by slowly in the breeze, perfect.
dawn drinking a fancy drink
The sun goes down and the fishing boats start trolling by. Clug clug clug, it almost sounds like a chopper flying through the mountains. Strange to be here and hear that sound. I’m sure people here have ptsd from it also.
dawn drying off after a dip
We slip into a close place for an early dinner. We’re tired from all day sunning.

  6. Funny how things can hit you sometimes. When I passed the 1st pic of the ceramic pot & the obviously hand made object on top, I wondered what it was. Then, when I go to the last pic with Dawn pouring the water on her feet it made me want to cry. It’s “just” the way they clean the sand off their feet. But the beauty of the pot, the hand made bamboo?scoop, the simplicity of a way of life it implies and Dawns feet being soothed on distant shores was too much for just a minute there…..
