Soo, We just got back from our wedding, and its already decadence. The pussyfooters were invited again this year so in true dawn and eli fashion we rocked it out.

Dawn was running late so we came just as people started lining up to take off. It was 9million out so I got a little sweaty. The pussyfooters gave us a bottle of champagne to celebrate dawn and I getting married.

Shortly after trying to drink that whole bottle, the pre-parade started to head towards the actual parade starting line.

The parade start is a crazy place, groups line up in all directions at the beginning of the route, and then take off shortly after the grand marshal says a couple words. Its totally exciting and fun everyone is smiling.

Also where else can you see the devil having out with a couple nuns. Having a conversation about someone’s leather pants?

The parade was blazing hot, it was 9- with 80ish percent humidity and burning sunlight. But it was so much fun I didn’t care that I was melting the whole time.

Often in New Orleans I find myself turning the camera on the crowd as they are just as fun and exciting as the parade, or event I’m in.

At the end of the parade you get to hang out with people and just enjoy the rest of the krews that are behind you. Lucky for me the pussyfooters were right in the front so we got to hang at the finish and watch everyone else.

At the end of the day for us we were headed back and feeling great so I dropped these guys a $20 and told them we had just got married, they sang us a pretty amazing song. Thanks guys!

Decadence is a truly amazing event. The south isn’t exactly as open as other places about being gay. So when you get to be yourself even fora long weekend its a truly amazing experience. We feel blessed to be included in the celebration, and well that’s just it isn’t it? Everyone is included in celebrating if you want to be.  Welcome to NOLA Decadence we hope you enjoyed your stay, see you next year!

  5. How do I share one of your pictures on fb? I don’t want to do a screen shot of it and seem like I’m stealing your photo!

  6. I think the easiest way is to go to the album on flickr and you can share any of them from there, you can click through to the photo you want to share by clicking on it on the blog, it should take you right to flickr.

  13. Hey, never been to NOLA, what the deal with all the parades and costumes? I dont get it… are these themed or put on by neighborhoods? Cool blog btw, your design skills are great!

  14. Well its a bit of yes to all. We have city parades all the time, and lots of organizations large and small also have parades. We costume for everything here, because its fun.
