Mardi Gras
Do what ya wanna.
We’re back and it’s Mardi Gras. We get our costumes ready early in the morning. I’m up at 6am. I make breakfast and finish as much as I can. People arrive about 8:30. St Anne’s rolls in front of our house. Starting about 9am the stream of people begins.
Trying to put Mardi Gras into words is a pursuit many have tried.
Our people show up we have mimosas, and champagne as the stream of amazement rolls by slowly.
Skin and bones serenades the porch as our friend Celeste has a bite to eat.
We decide to follow them but herding cats is what happens and we leave to late.
We make it into the quarter and meet friends along the way. It’s this community that we love. Friends along the way.
The day is cold but the weather deters nobody this year.
It’s so fun.
So fun.
We wonder. Full of happy. Sights and sounds mix into more fun revelry in the truest sense.
We eat. We dance.
We enjoy the day. We do what we wanna.
See you next year.
