I get up feeling bad. Rough start. I’m super tired and didn’t sleep. I lie around the room most of the day watching the geckos in the shade. Listening to the frogs outside.

We rent a motor scooter and head for the mountains. Today we will try and see the monkeys or the slow loris or the macaws. We expect to see a lot of forest. We are right.

I’m up early again. We go to eat on the beach. We head out and catch the morning. It’s just across the street and down a little resort path. We’re up early with the locals they greet us with good mornings. We eat in dining room chairs with our feet in the sand.

We met another traveler last night at dinner. And stayed out last our bed time. We have decided to stay here the rest of the trip. We will miss out on a couple other areas of the country we wanted to visit. But we will opt in for building a little community and meeting some local people. So it’s a good trade off. This we also have decided is now semi, mostly, officially our honeymoon. We don’t feel bad about spending it on the beach.

Phu Quoc is a little island off the south eastern tip of Vietnam. Geckos and frogs seem to love it here. Our hotel is really nice again. We have been lucking out. The walk back to our room is quite stunning and now dawn and I have some ideas for when we buy a house.

We slip into Saigon under the cover of darkness it’s bustling already. 4:30 in the morning and everybody is up. The train station is packed people traveling home for tet. We see bikes packed for the train ride home. People take there motorcycles it’s amazing. All of Vietnam is in flux. Tet is massive.

We leave Nha Trang today. Our first view of the beach. This town is full of Russians and they all proposition me. I have no idea what they are saying. Dawn thinks it’s funny. They talk to me in Russian.

I wake up to the clunk clunk clunk of the train. The sun is out the scenery is stunning once again. We pass fields of flowers Yello and Red. Valleys of rice fields, Farm villages with giant pens of geese. We pass mountains with boulders larger than buildings. It’s fun to wake up to moving beauty.

Half day marathon scooter rides make you wake up slow. I hear people practicing karate outside on the promenade by the bay. The sounds of scooters fill our room as the light pours in slowly. We make it to breakfast and plan our next move. An overnight train to Nha Trang this time in the fancy soft sleeper car. Luxury travel.
