Day 8 leaving Phong Nha
This is one of those places you don’t want to leave. You want to enjoy the true hospitality of your host country. You feel that here, like the whole vietnam embraces you. People come here and don’t leave I understand why.
This village has electricity and some internet access but that’s where the modern world stops. People farm, fish, and have no money to travel. Our hosts have the first washing machine in town. Think about that. One washing machine in the whole town. Yet they build beautiful homes here. Water buffalo walk down the street alone like chickens they are just usefull pets, they have little houses. Much like we have dog houses. They also sound a bit like geese it’s so funny.
Dawn is trying to help our host diagnose some stomach pains so before we leave we will head to the pharmacy in town and try and figure out what she is taking and help switch her up to something if needed. Dawn forgot this is why she got into medicine and now she is excited to be traveling with such an amazing skill set. We fantasize about moving here and setting up a clinic they have no doctor here.
We run to the pharmacy in town, dawn using a book some sign language and some gestures to get some medicine for one of our hosts.
We will miss it here and hopefully come back soon.
We take one last bike trip to see the monkey rescue. We don’t see monkeys, we see lots of cows. Dawn wants to pet them.
Dong Hoi were at the train station. Dawn gets tickets, we eat at Quang Ly Hostel. It’s right in front of the train station a fun place to pass a hour or so waiting for the train. We drink ginger tea and get some local recommendations on Hue motorcycle rentals and tour guides.
