Day 21
It’s hard to come up with the words.
We go to breakfast and sit down its peaceful until a young Russian couple show up. They treat the locals like they are stupid for not speaking English. Asking if they understand in a condescending tone. The order is messed up, they pound on the table demanding that they are served and then leave. I’m glad to see them go. I’ll never understand that level of ignorance. That attitude makes me wonder why you would leave your house or travel at all.
We finish our breakfast and leave. Hoping they don’t think we are Russian. We pack up say goodbye to our room and go to the beach. We leave Vietnam feeling grateful for the kindness we have been shown. We have traveled all over the country people here have been so helpful and nice. The cynical American in me can’t believe it. Inside I know it’s true. We demand nothing but new experience. That’s why we travel.
Thanks for the jellyfish stings, stinky trash, loud streets, the shady hustlers, dogs, cats, and chickens, the cows, water buffalo and fish, the scooter madness, the beautiful beaches, the smiles, the helloooo’s yelled in passing, the hawkers trying to sell us things we don’t need, the clothing makers, the hotel lobby attendants, the gas station employees that helped us fill up, the temples, shrines, and pagodas, the wonderful beaches In the south, the amazing food throughout, the caves, the mountains, the hospitality that shows no end, thanks for it all.
See you later.
